I wanted to let you know that JoJo got her MACH on January 13th (Master Agility Champion). There are not many Shih Tzus that have managed to do this, and I am very proud of her. Both Abby and JoJo are also now registered therapy dogs. It is hard to believe that they will be 9 the beginning of March. Time goes by so fast. They are both doing well. Hi Monica!
Just wanted to send you a little update on Bailey (formerly Kris Kringle). This week has been 4 years since we brought him home, time flies! He's still doing amazing. Funny and sweet as ever. We finished our evaluations just over a year ago and are now a certified therapy dog team through Alliance of Therapy Dogs. So we've been visiting Holland Hospital once a month for almost a year. He does SO great with the patients and the smiles he brings to their faces are priceless. Attached are a few photos of him after some of our visits. He dressed as superman for our visit in October just before Halloween and he wore a light up Christmas sweater to our Christmas Eve visit (his hat only stayed on for about 10 seconds). Just wanted to let you know how fabulously Mischief is settling in. Amy and Quinn are just in love with her! We've had one play date with our boys already (the picture is below) and we're having another tomorrow. We'll keep sending updates as we can :) Scobey is still the sweetest, sassiest man in the world. He definitely knows that Mischief is his mother though! They talked back and forth and she only barked at Scobey, not Dixon! Scobey's personality just blossoms more every day. He is so independent and opinionated and SO protective of me! Whenever I'm home alone, Scobey won't leave my side and barks at any little sound. Dixon is our little angel boy. He is always down to give kisses and wants to snuggle constantly. He is so smart and wants nothing more than to please us. Dixon will sit whenever we ask him to, but Scobey will only sit when he knows we have a treat - that's a pretty perfect instance of their personalities :) We just adore our boys and don't know what we ever did without them. Since Mackey turned 4 months old yesterday, I thought I'd send you an update. He weighed 3 lbs. 15.5 oz. at his latest vet appt. (Seriously!) So, the vet just rounded up to 4! 😉 He's had two haircuts, and the groomers just love him! In fact, they made him their Facebook profile photo! The girls just adore him, and he loves snuggling with them (and then hiding under their beds when he needs a break!). He's doing great with housebreaking and has only had one accident in about a month! (Knock on wood!) Everyone loves him (and v.v.!); he is a hit with the kids at the bus stop each morning and lines up like he's going with them! He loves leaves and sticks and enjoys venturing out into the woods behind our house. He hates the rain but loves the snow! He's such a great puppy and is doing great! Thanks again! Melanie |

Good morning to everyone at Maple Lanes Shih Tzu. Just wanted to update you on my dog Patton. He is simply the best dog in the world. We are still in training for Therapy Dog certification with "Love on a Leash". Patton has a loving disposition and I would be lost without him. He is my heart. Thank you for giving him such a good start in life.
*Update* Today's a special day! Patton just received his certified therapy pet credentials and uniform from Love on a Leash, the Foundation for Pet Provided Therapy. Good job Patton! Your mom is very proud of you! Patton is son of Miss Snickers and Cupid of Maple Lane Shih Tzu. He was born on August 18, 2015. His chapter leader said he was born to be a therapy dog. Patton is a very loving pup. He's his moms heart. |

I was going to email you today to thank you for the wonderful surprise on your website! Reagan pulled up the site to show his newborn pics to her grandparents and saw your birthday wish on the website. That was so special!!! Thank you! Ace is the BEST LITTLE GUY EVER! He is doing great and adapting well to our home. We have a pack-n-play set up for him as well as a kennel for him to sleep in. He has some new toys, a harness and leash as well. He slept in Reagan's room and only stirred once she said. Rex, our part-time lab, slept right next to Ace's kennel - they are becoming good buddies! Sorry we haven’t gotten the chance to write and thank you yet, we are just a very busy family, but I wanted to take a moment today to say thank you for allowing us to adopt Gidget. She is the absolute best dog ever and was exactly what our family needed! She has fit right in and done amazing since day one! She loves us and we love her SO much! Gidget has been absolutely amazing for our daughter and exactly what we wanted for her! She loves to sleep in her bed or ours. Lol She is already registered as my daughter’s service dog based on something Gidget taught herself and started doing, it was truly amazing! My daughter hits her head on the ground as a sign of frustration and anxiety, Gidget from the 2nd week would go and position her body under her head and make her want to stop and my daughter would immediately snuggle her for comfort. We are also training her to help us recognize seizures and to continue doing exactly what she has been doing and being there for emotional support for my day as well. She learned basic commands, tricks, and potty training very quickly as well. It is absolutely phenomenal how much they have bonded and how much love they have for one another! We literally could not be happier! Gidget goes everywhere with us and is such a perfect addition to our home!! She loves to go for car rides and does so well in the stores and restaurants! I could literally sit here and write forever on how much of a positive impact she has had on my daughter’s life and ours as a family. This is Millie's new best friend, Harper. Harper is my office manager's daughter and comes to work with her on Mondays and Wednesday's. Millie and Harper are so in love with each other. They both about turn inside out when they see each other. Harper is 3 and is generally very busy. When Millie falls asleep in her lap, which she does every day, Harper sits absolutely still so as not to wake Millie. Katie, Harper's mom, says that if she had known that a puppy could get Harper to be that still she would have gotten one months ago! Millie is soooooo good in my office. She greets everyone enthusiastically and everyone just loves her. I took her to Bill's office and ended up giving your name and website address to three ladies (in order to prevent them from stealing Millie!). Millie was a big hit! Bill and I start each morning with Millie joining us in bed for kisses and ear modifications. She must think our ear lobes are a bit too long😊. Thank you for this wonderful addition to our world! We absolutely adore her! Our son, Ian has met her and can't wait to come home to spend time with her. She has a perfect personality, as you said, just the right mix of sassy and sweet! Hi Monica - we so enjoyed our visit with you yesterday and have just been enjoying our little tiny girl so much! After much debate we’ve decided to call her Rosey. She is adjusting so beautifully and doing well with Penny, our other Shih Tzu. Penny has been doing really well, better then I expected. I think in time they will be good friends.
Your home and property are so beautiful, I know I will remember yesterday always as a special day! Thank you so much for letting us see all of the pups and Blossom and Cupid, too! It was magical. I’ll never forget you walking out with that armful of puppies, it was like a puppy bouquet!!! Thank you and your family for your labor of love with all of these puppies! Monica, an update on Gracie. She is 10 pounds now and our vet thinks she has topped out She is 9 months old. She is potty trained and very rarely makes a mistake. Goes to the front door and stares at us when she wants out. I have taught her to bark (against Pam’s wishes). Very adorable bark I must say. We could not have asked for a better dog. We get lots of compliments on her coloring. She eats very well. We kept her on Royal Canin food but switched her to adult. She sleeps with me and in the morning she paws at me at about 7 AM to go out and when she comes in she goes to the kitchen and barks for a treat. She still dislikes to be crated when we go out, but she will go in it to sleep with the door open during the day. Again thank you for raising such a good little Shih Tzu.

Sydney turned one year old on 9.6.15 Sydney is the best dog ever! We love her so much! She loves us and is just wonderful with our kids and grand-kids. The older she gets, the more she settles into being a lap dog. She is quite smart and knows many tricks and commands. As typical with her breed, there are things she knows, but only obeys when she feels like it. We are working on that. Anyway, she is a good girl and we are so happy to have her. Wednesday we celebrated our little Poppy's first birthday. I just wanted you to know that this little dog is truly special. She wins the hearts of everyone she meets. She is petite, sweet and most lovable (and probably very spoiled). When I picked her up from your place last July on my way back from Glen Arbor, she came home to meet our other dog, Sydney, who "tolerated" all that puppy energy. They became fast friends, even though Syd was 12! Unfortunately Syd passed away suddenly in December and Poppy was quite lost for a few weeks. Our hearts were broken and I wondered if little Poppy would ever begin to fill the huge hole in our hearts - but she is doing that quite easily. During a vacation in February, we enrolled Poppy in a resident Puppy Training Program. She was the star! She's so content - they said they had never had a dog who was so content in her kennel. She LOVES her kennel - it seems to be her safe place. We don't shut the door anymore - even this morning, she gets out of bed and goes in! Anyways, I wanted to let you know what a wonderful little family member this one is. Even my groomer thinks she is special! I thought I'd send you an update this birthday week! Kym |

Bentley is a very good boy, aside from the occasional accident yet when he is busy playing. We love him SO much! & are so thankful to have found such a wonderful breeder!! I believe Jeff mentioned to you that I had been unsure of getting a puppy to begin with & after having visited a different breeder before it really had me doubting. But after finding your website & walking in your house, I was so much more comfortable & knew that Bentley (Ollie) was the puppy for us! I'm honestly not fond of any animals but Jeff & my girls have said a few different times already that they are so surprised by how much I love Bentley. He is such a cutie! Thank you for the great job that you do! I will definitely recommend you if I know of anyone looking for a ShihTzu!

Maeve and her sister Willow are adjusting very well. They are so loving as I knew they would be. Potty training is also moving along. Thank you for starting them on going outdoors, they have caught on easily. Getting Willow was the best thing we could have done. Bedtime is quiet. From the first night no whining. They snuggle together and sleep the entire night. Watching them play together is heart warming. We're in love. Our daughters held them all the way back to Pentwater on Saturday and on Sunday all the way home to Indiana. Maeve and Willow were so good riding in the van. I have always treated my dogs like they were my children. These two will have a good life with us. Monday, we saw our Veterinarian.....both checked out great....but we knew that. I'm happy to have found Maple Lane Pups. Thank you again for all the toys, food, puppy CD photos, and scented blanket. E-mail me anytime. I'll send photos as they change. It was so nice meeting you and your daughter at the airport in Traverse City. We totally adore Indigo. He was treated like a Movie Star on the two flights back home to Florida by the crews and passengers. He has given us so much joy and has adjusted very well to his new home. I just wanted to let you know how Mr. Saban Koal is doing! We were in love at first sight! He is the smartest dog I have ever had! He has learned 10 tricks already. He is adorable and has everyone at his beck and call. He has a loving personality and never meets a stranger. Even my aunts who have never liked dogs are crazy about him and come visit him. I must say I was apprehensive about purchasing him sight unseen but I am so happy I did. He has lightened our lives and we are forever grateful for him!

Hi Monica, just wanted to let you know that in 3 days my Lacey will be 1 year old. She is one of the smartest dogs I've ever had although I should of given her a different name because she is a little tomboy. Her coloring is very pretty mostly light tan with a lot of black still on her back, my groomer says she still has a lot of puppy hair in her with a very thick coat...so smart, she uses her front paws like we do our hands, she opens doors, understands most commands...she loves to take car rides, loves people and is not a barker...the most positive thing is the fact that she is not afraid of storms or fireworks...she weighs about 10 lbs and is very petite...It looks like she'll stay right around 10 lbs, perfect teeth, bright eyed...I can see her fathers look in her face especially when she's being stubborn...as you can see I could go on and on...I don't think there's a person or kid she doesn't like...you would be so proud if you could see her in person...I just love her to death... Hello,
After much searching on the internet last spring, I decided to visit Maple Lane Pups. I already knew a lot about the puppies since Monica keeps potential owners very well informed with pictures and notes. Their family was very friendly and welcomed me to their home. I picked out a pup and anxiously waited for school to end to pick my little girl pup up. I had researched Shih Tzus and knew they were usually very friendly, people-loving dogs. Since that day, 8 months ago, this has proved to be true 100% and I have never been so happy with a pet!! This puppy has completed her first obedience class, can do a super amount of tricks, and in two months she will take her Therapy Dog Test. We have already been visiting schools to listen to students read and been to several nursing homes.
I can't say enough positive things about the personality of this pup, and I give Maple Lane Pups the credit for giving her such a good start in life. This is an honest breeder who cares about the breed, and raises the puppies in their home in a normal family setting. She will also give you supportive advice if needed after you take your pup home. I just want to say a big thank you for the sweetest dog in the world!

Merrick who is now Riley Merrick has just been an absolute joy. No accidents yet (at my house). So just pleased as can be. He really adores my older girl and naps on her all the time, so cute. We got the puppy pack on Saturday and he was so excited to get his toys. Thank you. He is getting brave now and going into the bedrooms, its so cute. He has been very patient with my 3 year old who is not a good listener, but we watch them together all the time to keep him safe. He plays so well with her. I wanted to send a picture and let you know Reese is doing great. Only one potty accident in 8 days! He is a true boy and loves the outdoors! Reese and his new sister are warming up to each other and are often found napping near each other. We could not be happier, Reese was the right choice. Even though being a new mom is tiring, he is so worth it. Don't be surprised if you hear from us in the Spring/Summer wanting to add again to our family. We would ONLY get a puppy from you! It was so nice to meet you and your family yesterday. You are fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of Michigan! The puppy is doing great and I am absolutely smitten with her. We picked my husband up from the airport this afternoon - he unzipped the top of the travel crate and she gave him tons of kisses. Not sure if it was love at first sight or she just wanted to get out! Since the puppy has long dark hair and dark eyes her new name is Pippa (after Pippa Middleton) and it really fits her. I was able to get her to the vet today. She checked out perfectly.
Thanks for being so kind and patient on the phone. I hadn't been on the puppyfind website before Wednesday and can't believe I found what I wanted right here in Michigan. I think it was good that I had knew there were others in line to see the puppy because it gave me the boost I needed with my husband being out of the country - he would have totally insisted I get her. And it was definitely the right decision.
My mom and I are both impressed at how well adjusted Pippa is and know it's due to all of the love and care your family gives to the dogs.

Just wanted to give you an update on "lucky" (who we renamed Gibson). Everything is going great, he's very healthy and happy with his new family. He has been a great joy! Thank you for sending us the photo :) Marlo is doing wonderful! She is so loving and cuddly!! She has only had 2 accidents since she has been home so potty training is still AWESOME!! She loves to play and is having a ball outside!! She is so funny....we'll play outside for a bit and when she's had enough she'll go sit by the steps to go in (she still too little to make it up our front steps)....it's very cute!! She is eating great!! She eats best in the morning I think :) I can't tell you enough how much we love her!! She is just so much fun!! She hasn't cried since that first night so I think she has adjusted well also :) We are taking her camping for the first time today with some friends and I think she'll have a great time! Luckily our camper has air conditioning as hot as it has been!! Well, I hope you guys are doing well, and that all the other puppies are doing well!! They are all so cute its really hard not to love 'em!! I know its love at first sight for everyone here who meets Marlo :)
Oh and we went to the vet and everything was great!! Vet said she is very healthy and looked great! She now weighs in at a whopping 3.3 lbs (too cute)! She got her second shots and didn't even cry or wince....she's a tough cookie!!
I will send you some pictures of her first camping trip when we get back :)

I just wanted to check in with you about Miss Maya. She is doing really great. Took her to the vet on Friday and the vet said she was very healthy and that you are doing a great job with you puppies (you knew that though).
Miss Maya is a bit more gritty than Coco was at her age but she is playing with someone who out weighs her by 10lbs. She has only had one accident in the house and that was truly my fault because it took me a little while to wake up this morning other than that she has done really great!

Daisy is adjusting amazingly well! She's a delight...such a sweet pup! The kids adore her!
Last night, we put her in her crate with her blanket and she slept all night without a single peep. No crying or wimpers. I actually got up and checked on her to make sure she was okay. I was expecting a rough night but I think the kids just completely tired her out. I think Daisy loves us as much as we love her. She's always wagging' her tail.

Her coloring is very pretty mostly light tan with a lot of black still on her back, my groomer says she still has a lot of puppy hair in her with a very thick coat...so smart, she uses her front paws like we do our hands, she opens doors, understands most commands...she loves to take car rides, loves people and is not a barker...the most positive thing is the fact that she is not afraid of storms or fireworks...she weighs about 10 lbs and is very petite...It looks like she'll stay right around 10 lbs, perfect teeth, bright eyed...I can see her fathers look in her face especially when she's being stubborn...as you can see I could go on and on...I don't think there's a person or kid she doesn't like...you would be so proud if you could see her in person...I just love her to death... We adopted one of Mischief and Cupids puppies back on July 5th, she is 6 months now. You called her Candace and we've named her Mikki. She is adorable and lively, fun, smart, loving and just the BEST puppy. She is fitting in great with our family - we have two other shih tzus - Billie is 11 years and Franklin is 7 years, and the three of them are getting along wonderfully! She is such a joy -

Hello,
After much searching on the internet last spring, I decided to visit Maple Lane Pups. I already knew a lot about the puppies since Monica keeps potential owners very well informed with pictures and notes. Their family was very friendly and welcomed me to their home. I picked out a pup and anxiously waited for school to end to pick my little girl pup up. I had researched Shih Tzus and knew they were usually very friendly, people-loving dogs. Since that day, 8 months ago, this has proved to be true 100% and I have never been so happy with a pet!! This puppy has completed her first obedience class, can do a super amount of tricks, and in two months she will take her Therapy Dog Test. We have already been visiting schools to listen to students read and been to several nursing homes.
I can't say enough positive things about the personality of this pup, and I give Maple Lane Pups the credit for giving her such a good start in life. This is an honest breeder who cares about the breed, and raises the puppies in their home in a normal family setting. She will also give you supportive advice if needed after you take your pup home. I just want to say a big thank you for the sweetest dog in the world!

Merrick who is now Riley Merrick has just been an absolute joy. No accidents yet (at my house). So just pleased as can be. He really adores my older girl and naps on her all the time, so cute. We got the puppy pack on Saturday and he was so excited to get his toys. Thank you. He is getting brave now and going into the bedrooms, its so cute. He has been very patient with my 3 year old who is not a good listener, but we watch them together all the time to keep him safe. He plays so well with her. I must admit I was worried for a while, not sure about sending money out of state. Thank you for answering all my questions and sending us the best little guy we could ask for.

I wanted to send a picture and let you know Reese is doing great. Only one potty accident in 8 days! He is a true boy and loves the outdoors! Reese and his new sister are warming up to each other and are often found napping near each other. We could not be happier, Reese was the right choice. Even though being a new mom is tiring, he is so worth it. Don't be surprised if you hear from us in the Spring/Summer wanting to add again to our family. We would ONLY get a puppy from you! I will send you another picture in a few months, he is growing so fast!

It was so nice to meet you and your family yesterday. You are fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of Michigan! The puppy is doing great and I am absolutely smitten with her. We picked my husband up from the airport this afternoon - he unzipped the top of the travel crate and she gave him tons of kisses. Not sure if it was love at first sight or she just wanted to get out! Since the puppy has long dark hair and dark eyes her new name is Pippa (after Pippa Middleton) and it really fits her. I was able to get her to the vet today. She checked out perfectly.
Thanks for being so kind and patient on the phone. I hadn't been on the puppyfind website before Wednesday and can't believe I found what I wanted right here in Michigan. I think it was good that I had knew there were others in line to see the puppy because it gave me the boost I needed with my husband being out of the country - he would have totally insisted I get her. And it was definitely the right decision.
My mom and I are both impressed at how well adjusted Pippa is and know it's due to all of the love and care your family gives to the dogs.

Just wanted to give you an update on "lucky" (who we renamed Gibson). Everything is going great, he's very healthy and happy with his new family. He has been a great joy! We wanted to thank you and let you know that you are doing a fantastic job as a breeder! He has been well adjusted and socialized since we brought him home. We feel that being part of your home and having the children around really helped in his adjustment.

Thank you for sending us the photo :) Marlo is doing wonderful! She is so loving and cuddly!! She has only had 2 accidents since she has been home so potty training is still AWESOME!! She loves to play and is having a ball outside!! She is so funny....we'll play outside for a bit and when she's had enough she'll go sit by the steps to go in (she still too little to make it up our front steps)....it's very cute!! She is eating great!! She eats best in the morning I think :) I can't tell you enough how much we love her!! She is just so much fun!! She hasn't cried since that first night so I think she has adjusted well also :) We are taking her camping for the first time today with some friends and I think she'll have a great time! Luckily our camper has air conditioning as hot as it has been!! Well, I hope you guys are doing well, and that all the other puppies are doing well!! They are all so cute its really hard not to love 'em!! I know its love at first sight for everyone here who meets Marlo :)
Oh and we went to the vet and everything was great!! Vet said she is very healthy and looked great! She now weighs in at a whopping 3.3 lbs (too cute)! She got her second shots and didn't even cry or wince....she's a tough cookie!!
I will send you some pictures of her first camping trip when we get back :)

Just wanted to let you know that Halley is doing really well. She is adjusting to her new home, and new playmates (my kids). She is doing really well with potty training. We have only had one pee pee accident inside the home. She is really a great little girl. My boyfriend can't believe how wonderful she is. She is just so happy. She is just adorable.

Good morning Monica –
I just wanted to check in with you about Miss Maya. She is doing really great. Took her to the vet on Friday and the vet said she was very healthy and that you are doing a great job with you puppies (you knew that though).
Miss Maya is a bit more gritty than Coco was at her age but she is playing with someone who out weighs her by 10lbs. She has only had one accident in the house and that was truly my fault because it took me a little while to wake up this morning other than that she has done really great!

Daisy is adjusting amazingly well! She's a delight...such a sweet pup! The kids adore her!
Last night, we put her in her crate with her blanket and she slept all night without a single peep. No crying or wimpers. I actually got up and checked on her to make sure she was okay. I was expecting a rough night but I think the kids just completely tired her out. I think Daisy loves us as much as we love her. She's always wagging' her tail.
Thank you for all the work and care you and your family put into her. It really shows. She's a terrific fit for our family!
